Healing

So, it has been a few weeks since I have posted......I had a pretty worthless week:( I hurt my ankle a few weeks ago and decided to run on it for a week......bad idea!! I took the week off last week in hopes that my ankle would heal but unfortunately I discovered on my run today that is not the case.

I am trying not to be incredibly upset about this but it really sucks!! I have never been very good about slowing down to recover from things and this time I decided to take time off and it didn't work......sooooo frustrating! But I will go to the doctor this week, get an x-ray and as long as it isn't a fracture I am back to pounding the pavement!

As frustrating as it is to get injured.....it is just a part of life. I can not even count the number of times in life things have not gone as planned and I have had to redirect my path or "try" to slow down and let a situation settle or heal. I think that is just the way it is for all of us. It isn't the let downs, the injuries or the complete and utter disappointments that define us, it's the way we handle or chose to "heal" that makes us who we are. This is something that reminds me of why I am doing this. I talked to a man who has been in remission for two years now and his only comment when I asked how he felt was "I feel blessed to have survived and I am also blessed to have gone through it because I look at life and treat people completely different!"

I guess my point this week can be summed up in a quote by Theodore Roosevelt "Do what you can with what you have where you are." I might have a little bump in this journey but I will just have to make due and train how ever I can to get to the finish line!!
